Its been a while friend.

So just to update the world. I haven't given up on blogging nor have I forgot about you. I found myself working very steadily at the day care for the last week and a half. I have agreed to work an additional week and half. The only reason why I am able to blog now is because I decided not to go to work today. Yesterday Aidan was very lathargic and needy. If you know my Aidan he is anything but lathargic. He just wanted to cuddle on mommy's lap and not move yesterday. I took his temperature at noon yesterday and he had a 101.4 fever. Probably not a big deal to the world, but Aidan (to my knowledge) had never had a fever. So we came home and he sleep for about four hours. When he woke up he was just as tired and drowsy. He got sick twice and then I gave him some medicine and checked his temperature again, it had climbed to 102.7. I let the medicine kick in and it did reduce his fever, but he is still tired. Today has been very lazy and chill. I love the cuddling with my baby, but not having him sick. We are watching Thomas the train again. Hoping he will sleep soon.

So between a sick baby and working I haven't been on the computer for two weeks. I periodically check some sites on my phone but not often. I promise that in a few weeks time we will be back on schedule. Later friends.

Train, gun and car museum day

Last Saturday Brian and I decided it would be fun to take Aidan into Ogden and check out the train museum at Union Station. Aidan loved it. The great part was that if you bought tickets to go to the museum it included all three museums. So we visited the train, gun and car museum. Aidan did so well! We managed to walk around for about two hours without a stroller. First we saw some of the trains outside. Aidan loved it. Everything was "OH WOW! Choo Choo." The part that I enjoyed was seeing FrontRunner come through while we were out looking at trains. Aidan really enjoyed that part. Then we went inside and had lunch at the Union Grill. It was an okay restaurant. I had some fish and fries, Aidan had chicken and fries and Brian had gumbo. Yummy! I think I will try and make gumbo at home one day. Here are some pictures of our trip, they are in no particular order.

Aidan sitting on a railroad seat. One game that Aidan and I played was the 'Glued hands' game. He could walk around without holding our hands if he "glued" his hands together (this was to help keep him from touching everything) and it worked.

Railroad crossing sign. I just liked it so I took a picture of it.

Aidan and Brian looking out the window of the caboose.

A fun display of the guns at the Browning gun museum.

Entrance into the car museum. I was delighted to see that they had an old antique Stanley car. I had never heard of it until I watched the movie Cars. Remember the statue of the old car that the crazy lady car refers to as her precious Stanley? Or the statue that scares Lightning McQueen and helps him ruin the highway though Radiator Rapids? Yep I saw the real Stanley. I am not crazy, go watch the movie.
Aidan and Brian sitting inside the caboose. A bit of trivia for everyone. No one knows the origins to the word caboose or why we call the last car of a train a caboose. Cool huh? I kept singing "Little Red Caboose behind the train" for Aidan and he giggled. He loves that song.

Brian holding Aidan up high so that he could get a better look at the engines outside. I love that it became a kind of shadowy/ black and white photo.

Aidan loved the big wheels on the train. Choo Choo!

Careful, it giggles!

I wish I had a video of this, a picture doesn't do it justice. For Christmas, Virgie had my cousin Alician buy her a giggling animatronic dog. Alician works at Hallmark so she was able to get a good deal for Virgie. On this dog it giggles and rolls around the floor. Aidan isn't very comfortable around it yet. It will giggle and wiggle for a minute and then stop, just to start up again. The starting up again part confuses little Aidan. So the other day when we were there playing with the dog, Aidan needed to go into the kitchen. But the dog wouldn't allow him to pass. So my smart little boy, grabs a hold of Virgie's walking stick and proceeds to prod the dog until it is clearly out of his walking path to the kitchen. I laughed and laughed at his ingenuity. Still do actually.

Goodbye corner...

On the northeast corner on Gentile and Main Street they have been busy. Brian and I were saddened when they got rid of the pawn shop and the motorcycle shop. But we were surprised at the demolition that was going on. I find it odd that they would demo such an old set of buildings. Word has it that the entire area will be destroyed soon. Goodbye Fat Alberts Gym. Goodbye dog groomer that we used to take Paddy the dog to see. I don't know what is going in, but this corner has been the same for as long as I can remember, and it kind of makes me sad.

How our nights are spent...

Since the purchase of the new television, we haven't watched much television. Aidan loves to watch Brian play video games. If it makes the kid happy what else are we supposed to do but give him what he wants. Brian isn't going to complain. In this picture Brian is playing a racing game called Forza, and Aidan is sitting down with his controller, playing along. Good thing this mom has a lot of books she can be reading.

Sensational Saturday Night

Last night to celebrate our friend Steven's birthday (it is actually on Tuesday) we decided to go out and eat at Rodizio Grill. I have never been there before and have always wanted to experience it. It was yummy!

These meats were delicious. I tried one of everything, I was very proud of myself. I can honestly now say that I really do not like Mahi Mahi and especially DO NOT LIKE chicken heart. I split a heart with Steven and I am very grateful that it was super small. I felt as though I was eating a small rubber bouncy ball. Not that I have ate one before, but it was not pleasing at all. But now I know for certain, right? My favorite meat was the Asian Glazed Chicken! Yummy.

A special thanks to the McFadden's for letting us tag along and celebrate Steven's birthday with them! Another special thanks to Virgie and the Larson's. Virgie watched Aidan while we bought the television and the Larson's babysat while we went to eat and a movie. Thanks guys!

Serious Saturday Shopping

Brian has wanted one for a while (I have enjoyed the thoughts of getting one too). But yesterday after months of shopping and studying, Brian finally found the one he wanted. So we drove down to RC Willey's warehouse and picked it up. We had some gift certificates and discounts so the time was right. And then we found that it was actually about $200.00 cheaper than we were planning on. Sweet! Here are the specs... 50" LG plasma television. 1080p with a 2 million to one contrast ratio.

Brian the master knot tier.
The TV could not be laid down on its side.
Makes sense, its a plasma.
So Brian used his physics and boy scout
knowledge to tie this baby up.
It didn't move at all during transit.
We bought a entertainment center late last night as well.
Aidan decided to get in on the
entertainment center building.
He went and got his tool box and his goggles
and went to work.

Almost ready for the television.

Here it is.
Aidan immediately requested that
Daddy play a video game.
Silly boy!

Like mother, like son

Do you see what I see?

Today Aidan woke up after experiencing a first...he had his first bloody nose. My poor sweet boy! I am plagued with constant, random bloody noses. It would appear that Aidan is following in my foot steps. This is something that I am not excited for him to experience. I hate my bloody noses. They are so random and tempermental! Is it too hot? Too cold? Too humid? What's my altitude? Too high? Too low? Am I stressed? What's up with my capillaries today? Not enough iron? Am I dehydrated? etc. etc. etc. I have seen doctors about my "condition," and their collective answer is that I have adjusted to it well enough, don't worry about it. What? Lucky for Aidan, I know some good tricks to end them quickly and without too much fuss. But still, poor guy!

Beef Bourgninion Night

As per one of my goals for this year, today I made beef bourgninion. I enjoy cooking. I enjoy learning about cooking. Well, recently I watched the movie Julie & Julia. In this movie an average joe, Julie Powell, decides that she wants to go through Julia Child's cookbook and cook all the recipes in a year. Quite a feat! During the course of the movie, as I watched it, I felt there was an emphasis on Julia's recipe for Beef Bourgninion. Well I am not an ourwardly competitive person but I thought to myself, "what's the big deal with this recipe?" I did some research and still didn't understand what all the hub-bub was about. So I chatted with Brian and I decided to make it. Many days of mental preparation brought us to today.

The prep station.
I had everything out and
ready for action at a moments notice!

The recipe called for an "herb bouquet."
Here is my first one.

The platter of finished product.
The house smelt divine all day long!

My plate.
I made a side of mashed potatoes and rolls.

Our first dinner guest of the year,
Auntie Suzie!
She really was happy to be there.
:-)

The recipe was not hard. It was just time consuming. I am guessing that was what the hub bub was all about. Start to finish total time was 5 hours. Total time standing over a stove babysitting a dutch over and/or a skillet 2 hours. Aidan was a wonderful boy today. He didn't come into the kitchen at all today. He kept coming into the hallway and making a face and running back to his bedroom. I wonder if my stressed face and constant moving about made him nervous?

La Bodega in our basement

La Bodega is Spanish for "grocery store"

One of my resolutions for this year was to improve our food storage and keep it up with things like our garden and canning projects. I have already started with our basic can goods. We had a pretty descent sized food storage when we moved into our home. But with Brian having lost his job and being gainfully unemployed for 5 months, we depleted that supply. Now that the money is coming back in, we are taking advantage of the recent case lot sales in the area. Thankfully, both Brian and I have now have an equally strong testimony of the importance of food storage and planning ahead. During his unemployed months our life style didn't have a drastic change, we were more cautious with our spending, but we didn't eat like paupers either. I thought I would share some of our storage for archiving purposes. I do not mean to be boastful or proud. I only want to be able to share my excitement and testimony of having a food storage. If anyone has any helpful suggestions, please post. I am new to this and would welcome any thoughts or additional ideas.

Our freezer in the garage.
During all the case lot sales they are
having SWEET deals on
meats and breads.

I have also become a believer of
making bulk soups and freezing them.
These soups have often been a
welcome relief to busy days.

Not all of this is ours, some is our roommates.
But I do like what I see!

During this last outing, we did splurge on
things like syrup, stock,
tomato soup and tuna fish.
Yummy!

New Year's Eve 2009

How did we spend our New Year's Eve 2009? Like a boring old married couple. But that's okay. We really didn't want to go anywhere or do anything. What little we did do was nothing remotely close to spectacular. When Brian got off of work we went to Wal-Mart. Brian got his first big check from his job, and we spent money on groceries. We had depleted much of our food storage, so trust me we needed it. After that we came home did nothing. I read a book. Aidan watched television and Brian played on his laptop. Just about the time that we decided that nothing fun was going to happen that night, Aidan worked his magic. He dragged out the drums to Guitar Hero and started singing and dancing and playing the drums, to nothing in particular. Then he went to move it again and it made a funny noise. Brian, ever the investigator started taking it apart to look at stuff and we found the noise maker. When we played at Suzie's house last weekend, apparently Aidan stole some pieces to her music box/Christmas village thing and put them inside the drum set. Have no fear! We have them in our possession and soon enough they will be returned to there proper owner. Sorry again Suzie! And then that was it. Nothing spectacular I say!

Brian tinkering with the drums.
Aidan watching him do it.

12:02 AM 2010 first family picture.
Look! I have a neck!
Notice Aidan's scratch...
He found my thumb the other day, poor baby!

This is how we roll!
I hate wine, but tend to be a romantic.
Sprite and grape juice in our wine glasses.
Yes we have wine glasses.
We even have champagne glasses.
See a romantic!

Aidan and Mommy have a swig! Cheers!

Happy New Year 2010
